Muraho! Hello! Bonjour!
Welcome to the blog of the Rwamagana Lutheran School (RLS) Environmental Club. We are a group of RLS students interested in understanding global environmental issues and the environmental problems that we face every day in Rwanda.
Our motto is “To protect the environment is to protect yourself.” We recognize that the environment plays a crucial role in our lives. If we do not work to protect natural resources, biodiversity, and prevent climate change, our lives will be directly negatively impacted. We want to learn more about solutions to environmental problems, and also educate our RLS peers about how they can act to protect the environment.
Follow our activities and share your thoughts and ideas with us using this blog!
In the past we have done activities such as a school-wide garbage sorting competition to increase awareness about recycling, placed environmental awareness posters in important parts of our school grounds, and worked with the cows and chickens at our school. Rwamagana Lutheran School has solar panels for electricity, a biogas digester for human and animal waste, a school garden, and cows and chickens to supplement our lunches. As we learn more about what our school is doing to promote sustainable development, we are working to educate our peers and improve sustainability at the school even more.
The Rwamagana Lutheran School is located in Rwamagana, Eastern Province, Rwanda.
